What Will You Learn?
Play Therapy
At Hope Haven, we offer Play Therapy for children ages 3 and up as a powerful tool for emotional healing and growth. Through structured and unstructured play, art, storytelling, role-playing, sand tray activities, and games, children are able to express their emotions, process life experiences, and work through psychological concerns in a safe and fun environment. Because young children often have difficulty verbalizing complex thoughts and feelings, play provides a natural language for them to explore their internal world.
Our trained clinicians carefully observe and participate in the play to help guide emotional processing, reflection, and healing. For some teens, adapted play-based interventions can also provide meaningful avenues for expression and emotional development.
Play Therapy not only helps children address concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, and life transitions, but also nurtures key skills like self-confidence, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and healthy relationship-building. Parents and caregivers are often involved in the process, learning tools, and gaining insight to support their child’s growth at home.
- Encourages emotional expression and processing
- Builds self-confidence and self-esteem
- Enhances emotional regulation and coping skills
- Strengthens problem-solving and communication abilities
- Supports healthy social and family relationships
